American, Pilots Recess Contract Talks

Negotiators for American Airlines and its pilots union have recessed contract talks and will resume Thursday in Washington, D.C., in hopes of having a deal ready for the union’s board meeting there Friday.

Union spokesman Gregg Overman said Tuesday the board could consider any deal produced by the talks or one recommended by the presidential emergency board that has been mediating the negotiations since Feb. 15.

The union board then could either reject any proposal or put it to a vote by the membership.
