Tommy Amaker, part of Duke’s run of seven Final Four appearances over nine years as a player and an assistant coach, was hired as Seton Hall’s new basketball coach.

He replaces George Blaney, who was fired earlier this month after compiling a 38-48 record over three seasons, including 10-18 this year.

Eddie Fogler, pursued by Ohio State and Rutgers after guiding South Carolina to its best basketball season in a quarter-century, got a $100,000 raise to stay with the Gamecocks.

Graciano Rocchigiani of Germany tested positive for drugs after a World Boxing Organization bout last year, but the required follow-up test was never taken, officials said.

Rocchigiani, who would have faced a three-month ban if found to have taken banned substances, instead will go ahead with Saturday’s WBO light-heavyweight fight against American John Scully in Berlin.

Arnold Palmer says he plans to play in the World Senior Invitational in May at Charlotte, four months after undergoing prostate surgery.

Art Schlichter, a former quarterback for the Baltimore and Indianapolis Colts quarterback whose tumultuous career crashed in a mountain of gambling debts, was arrested at a rehabilitation center in Baltimore.

Federal authorities allege that Schlichter violated the terms of his probation set in Indianapolis in January when he pleaded guilty to defrauding banks and friends in Las Vegas of more than $100,000. They said they received information that Schlichter had gambled again.
