French Boy Youngest Chess Grand Master
A 14-year-old French boy on Saturday became the youngest player ever to claim the title of Chess Grand Master.
Etienne Bacrat, known as “the Mozart of Chess,” entered the ranks of the world’s greatest chess players after a game against Canada’s Kevin Spraggett.
The game, which ended in stalemate, was worth half a point, the amount Bacrat needed to secure the title.
Bacrat has been playing chess since he was four. He became a Chess Master two years ago. Last weekend, he defeated Switzerland’s Viktor Kortchnoi, considered one of the world’s best players.
Kortchnoi is 65 years old.
