Teamster President, Officers Sworn In
Teamsters President Ron Carey and 26 other officers of the international union were sworn in Saturday in a boisterous celebration attended by hundreds of members and their families.
In his inaugural address, Carey said he will hit hard at a culture of corporate greed that has created so many “throwaway workers” who are only part time or temporary, with no health benefits or pensions.
Carey issued a strong call to the rank-and-file to unite behind a unionwide push to make corporations and politicians accountable to working families.
Carey was elected last December in a bitterly contested election over James P. Hoffa.
