Harold ‘Dutch’ Melior Spokane

Memorial service for Harold E. “Dutch” Melior, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Park United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Melior, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.

He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and served as a gunner in the Navy aboard the USS West Virginia during World War II.

Ha had worked at the Manito post office and retired from the postal service after 30 years.

He was an advocate for Native Americans and, as a member of the Eastern Washington Genealogical Society, helped record all inscriptions on the tombstones of American Indians.

He also served as a volunteer during Expo ‘74 and helped the Kodak Company photograph Native Americans in ceremonial dress.

Mr. Melior is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elaine; a stepson, Michael Roseberry of Cedar Falls, Ore.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s West Campus or the Native American Outreach of Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

Patricia Blomquist Habben Spokane

Graveside service for Patricia Ann Blomquist Habben, 64, is set for 12:30 p.m. today at Fairview Cemetery in Rockford. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Habben, who was born in Rockford, died Wednesday.

She was a graduate of Marycliff High School and worked as a car hop at the Top Hat, a waitress at Casey’s and Mother’s Kitchen, and as a cook at North Central Care Center.

She is survived by six sons, Marvin Blomquist of Oakland, Iowa, Paul Blomquist of Coeur d’Alene, and Doug, Phil, Dale and John Blomquist, all of Spokane; two daughters, Anita LaBrucherie of Spokane and Teresa Lake of Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Kathleen Drowley and Betty Towers, both of Spokane; 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Clifford Hadlock Benge, Wash.

Service for E. Clifford Hadlock, 83, is set for 2:30 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Ritzville, Wash. Burial will follow at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Hadlock, who died Tuesday, was born in Lind, Wash.

His family moved to Benge and he graduated from school there.

He served in the military during World War II, and after the war, lived in Bend and Eugene, Ore.

He returned to Benge 45 years ago and worked as a janitor and bus driver for the Benge School District.

Mr. Hadlock is survived by several cousins.
