Boise Could Be Bowl Site
The Big West Conference is looking at Boise State University as the site for a new postseason football bowl game after the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority changed its approach to a championship in its town.
Big West commissioner Dennis Farrell’s Monday announcement was a response to the Nevada group’s notification it will change the format of the Las Vegas Bowl to include a team from the Western Athletic Conference against an at-large opponent.
The Big West has sent its champion to Las Vegas the past five years to play the winner of the Mid-American Conference.
Bob Devaney, who won consecutive national championships in the 1970s as Nebraska’s football coach, is recovering from a heart attack suffered last week.
“The prognosis is he will be OK, but not for a while,” said Devaney’s wife, Phyllis.
