Cavaliers, Spurs Just Miss Mark

The San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers almost played the lowest-scoring game in NBA history Tuesday night, but there were six foul shots made in the final 20.3 seconds as the host Spurs won 64-59.

The combined 123 points tied the second-lowest mark in league history since the inception of the shot clock.

The record low is 119 by Boston and Milwaukee in 1955.

With Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen resting on the bench, Steve Kerr sparked a fourth-quarter comeback and the Chicago Bulls edged the visiting Dallas Mavericks 94-92 for their 60th victory.

Mavericks guard Derek Harper entered the game needing 10 points for 15,000 in his career but scored just two.

Chicago’s Dennis Rodman hurt his left knee and limped off the court in the closing seconds of the game. An MRI is planned for today.

Hakeem Olajuwon scored 39 points as the Houston Rockets survived the loss of Clyde Drexler to post a 112-103 victory over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves.

Drexler suffered a sprained right ankle early in the third quarter and did not return to the game.

Steve Smith scored 27 points as the Atlanta Hawks extended their winning streak to five games by beating the Portland Trail Blazers 96-89 in Atlanta.
