Holy week is a busy one for many churches in the area, including Highland Park United Methodist Church, 611 S. Garfield.
A Communion service to remember the crucifixion of Christ will take place at 7 p.m. Friday.
A sunrise Easter service will be at 6:30 a.m. Sunday and be followed by a breakfast. The breakfast is free, but donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of the meal.
Easter worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by an Easter egg hunt for children of all ages.

Midday service scheduled
St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2 W. Third, will host services at 7 p.m. today and Friday. A short service designed to fit into the lunch hour will be at 12:10 p.m. Friday.
An Easter sunrise service will be at 6:30 a.m. Sunday and be followed by a free breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
The youth and Sunday school children will lead an informal worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday. A traditional worship service will be at 10 a.m.
Maundy Thursday service planned
A service to commemorate Maundy Thursday will be today at 7 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1012 S. Freya. There will also be a worship service at 7 p.m. on Good Friday.
Easter morning will begin with free breakfast at 9 a.m. Donations will be accepted.
The church choir will perform during the 11 a.m. worship service.
Children up to the age of 12 are invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt after the service.
Prayer service will be tonight
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Manito United Methodist Church, 3220 S. Grand Blvd. The church chapel will be open all day today and Friday.
Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday. The meal is free, but donations will be accepted.
Easter Sunday worship services will be at 8:45 and 11 a.m.
Service of meditation planned
The Cheney United Methodist Church, 204 Fourth, is hosting a Maundy Thursday Communion and Tenebrae worship service of meditation today at 7 p.m.
On Friday, church members will participate in a joint ecumenical service at 4 p.m. at the Cheney United Church of Christ, 423 N. Sixth. Church members will hold their own service at 7 p.m.
The celebration of Easter Sunday will begin with a sunrise service at 5:30 a.m. at the cross in front of the sanctuary. A continental breakfast will be available.
Baptisms will be performed at the 8:30 a.m. worship service. A Communion service will be at 11 a.m.
The youth of the church will serve a free breakfast between the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services.
Potluck will precede evening service
The Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cheney will host a potluck today at 6 p.m. before a Maundy Thursday Communion service at 7 p.m. All are invited to celebrate Good Friday at noon with the reading of the Passion story and the draping of the cross.
The youth of the church will serve breakfast at 8:45 a.m. Easter Sunday. A traditional worship service will follow at 10:30 a.m.
