Attempt To Kill Lice Nearly Fatal For Girl

Associated Press

A man trying to kill head lice on a 6-year-old girl washed her hair with an agricultural-strength pesticide that sent her into full cardiac and respiratory arrest, authorities said.

The girl remained hospitalized in serious condition Friday, two days after her mother’s boyfriend washed her hair with Diazinon in the kitchen sink. She was revived by police who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The boyfriend told police he didn’t realize how strong the chemical was. Diazinon has a neuromuscular paralyzing agent that is extremely toxic to humans.
