Hospital’s Incubator Alternative To Trash Can

Compiled From Wire Services

A Budapest maternity hospital placed an incubator at its front door to cut down on the number of babies abandoned to die in garbage cans, and on Friday found a baby boy inside it.

Hospital director Dr. Gyoergy Garamvoelgyi said the boy was 7 to 10 days old and in good health.

A receptionist found him when she answered a nighttime ring at the door. No one was there but the baby boy.

The hospital made headlines in May when it decided to place the incubator outside its door. Friday was the first time a baby was found in it.
