Doris (Cottrell) White Nine Mile Falls
Memorial service for Doris Jean (Cottrell) White, 71, will be at 10 a.m. today the at Whitworth College Chapel. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. White, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.
She graduated from Rogers High School. She worked at The Spokesman-Review during World War II and also worked as a secretary in Spokane and in Montana, where she had lived for about 15 years.
She returned to the Spokane area seven years ago and lived in Nine Mile Falls. She worked for Whitworth College.
Mrs. White is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dick White; a son, Michael Le Blanc of Arlington, Wash.; two daughters, and Dee Anna Christiansen of Nine Mile Falls and Debbie Williams of Helena; a sister, Sharon Rieser of Lynnwood, Wash.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Grace Young Colville, Wash.
Memorial service for C. Grace Young, 79, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville.
Born in St. Helens, Ore., Mrs. Young died Monday.
She graduated from Rogers High School in Spokane and worked for Newberry’s and for an insurance company, both in Spokane.
She married Les Young in 1940 in Spokane, and they settled in Colville and operated a flower shop for a few years.
Mrs. Young then worked for J.C. Penney in Colville and as a bookkeeper for the Colville superintendent of schools.
She was a member of the Stevens County Historical Society.
Her husband died in 1990.
Mrs. Young is survived by two daughters, Michele Kegel of Colville and Sherrie Martin of Spokane; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Stevens County Historical Society.
Opal Michael Clarinda, Iowa
Private burial for Opal M. Michael, 90, will be at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane. Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel in Clarinda is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Michael, a former Medical Lake resident, died March 20 in Clarinda, where she had lived since 1989.
She was born in Braddyville, Iowa, and graduated from high school there.
She and her husband, William Engleman, moved to Medical Lake in the 1940s, and Mrs. Michael worked as a nurses’ aide.
Two husbands preceded her in death: William Engleman died in 1953, and Floyd Michael died in 1982.
She moved to Clarinda, near Braddyville, in 1989.
Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Fine of Braddyville.
Cecilia Jans Sprague, Wash.
Visitation for Cecilia Jans, 88, is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. today and Sunday at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash. Rosary service will be at noon Monday at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Sprague. Vault burial will follow at Edwall (Wash.) Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Jans, who died Tuesday, was born on the Hanlon family homestead north of Edwall, Wash.
She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Missoula and received a life teaching certificate from Cheney Normal School in 1928. She received a master’s degree from Eastern Washington State College in 1952.
In 1931 she married Henry Jans.
She taught school in Pleasant Valley, Rosalia and Lamont, Wash., until she retired in 1961.
She was a member of Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Sprague and the Sprague Toastmasters.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Jans; a son, Donald Jans of Coral Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Marilyn Before of Great Falls, Mont., and Kay Walker of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Gloria Hanlon of Spokane; two brothers, Kenneth Hanlon of St. George, Utah, and John Hanlon of Coral Springs; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Floyd Morrison Spokane
A memorial gathering for Floyd P. Morrison, 85, will be from noon to 4 p.m. April 6 at 4012 N. Calispel. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Morrison, who was born in St. Paul, Minn., died Thursday.
In 1923 he moved to the Orchard Prairie area. He graduated from Hillyard High School.
He returned to St. Paul for a few years following high school.
In 1932 he returned to Spokane and married his high school sweetheart, Bertha Lee Morrison. They lived in St. Paul until 1935 and then came back to Spokane.
Mr. Morrison joined the Spokane Fire Department in 1935 and retired in 1952. He then worked in construction and did installation work for Sears until 1969.
He and his wife moved to their cabin at Priest Lake and in 1979 sold their home and bought a motorhome. They traveled and spent winters in the South.
Mr. Morrison was involved with the northeast district of the Boy Scouts in Spokane and served as scoutmaster for two national jamborees. He received the Silver Beaver award for his Scouting activity.
He was a member of the Retired Spokane Firefighters Association, the Hillyard High School Alumni and the Spokane Mushroom Club.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years; two sons, William Morrison of Puyallup, Wash., and James Morrison of Spokane; a brother, William Morrison of Federal Way, Wash.; a sister, Betty Travis of San Jacinto, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Gerald Luebbers Spokane
Memorial service for Gerald C. Luebbers, 84, is planned for 9 a.m. Monday at Assumption Catholic Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Luebbers, who died Wednesday, was born in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was raised in Washington, Mo., and graduated from high school there.
He worked as a clothing buyer and then entered the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Following his military service, Mr. Luebbers moved to St. Louis. He and his wife, Margaret, moved in 1956 to Spokane, where he worked as a clothing buyer for The Crescent.
He spent 24 years in Yakima. He retired from The Crescent and returned to Spokane in 1987.
Mr. Luebbers is survived by his wife; two sons, Gary Luebbers of Redlands, Calif., and Sean Luebbers of Cheney; two daughters, Sharon Carter of Redmond, Wash., and Karen Smith of Boise; a brother, Charles Luebbers of Peoria, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Catholic Church Building Fund.
Leann Jones Priest River, Idaho
There will be no service for Leann Vandro Jones, a former Spokane resident. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jones, 54, died Wednesday.
She was born in Oakland and graduated from high school in San Diego. She moved to Spokane and attended Gonzaga University.
She was a certified nurses assistant and worked for Kimberley Quality Health Care. She had also worked as a legal secretary and mortgage broker.
She had lived in Priest River for the past three years.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Bob Jones; a daughter, Tee Little of Eagle River, Alaska; two sons, Rob Sauve of Peters Creek, Alaska, and Charles Suave; two stepbrothers, Dwight Bartelson of Oregon and Hue Bartelson of Spokane; and a stepsister, Sharlie Letarnau of Spokane.
Patrick Smith Spokane
No service will be held for Patrick Smith. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 61, died last Saturday.
He was born in Dayton, Ohio.
He served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1961 and worked for General Motors in Ohio.
In 1984 he moved to Spokane.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Smith of Spokane; a daughter, Tonja DeVaughn of Fair Oaks, Calif.; a brother, Michael Smith of Ohio; and 10 grandchildren.
Charles Olsen Spokane
Memorial service for Dr. Charles W. Olsen, is set for 3 p.m. today at Heritage Congregational Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Olsen, who was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa, died Tuesday. He was 98.
He came to Spokane in 1903 with his parents. He was a North Central High School graduate and graduated from the University of Oregon Dental School.
Dr. Olsen qualified for the U.S. Olympic wrestling team while he was in college. He also served in the Navy’s submarine corps for two years in Pullman.
In 1923 he established his dental practice in Spokane and retired 50 years later.
Dr. Olsen was a member of Heritage Congregational Church, Spokane District Dental Society, Spokane Central Lions Club, Manito Masonic Lodge No. 246 and Elks Lodge No. 228.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Estella Olsen; a son, William Olsen of Beaverton, Ore.; a daughter, Jean Toland of Concord, Calif.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Merle Riese Chewelah, Wash.
Service for Merle William Riese, 72, is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah. burial will be at Summit Valley (Wash.) Cemetery.
Born in Addy, Wash., Mr. Riese died Wednesday.
He served in the Army during World War II and married Virginia Easley in 1948.
Mr. Riese worked as a logger for most of his life and delivered newspapers for 10 years.
He helped care for the Chewelah City Cemetery and was a a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2047 and American Legion Post 54.
Survivors include his wife; eight daughters, Myrla Magart and Kim Murphy, both of Valley, Wash., Bonnie Knight of Breighton, Texas, Audra Jacobs, Jill Sulgrove and Nancy Grubb, all of Chewelah, Cindy Salter of Hermiston, Ore., and Debi Holmes of Gridley, Calif.; two sons, Richard Riese of Chewelah and Scott Riese of Waitts Lake, Wash.; two brothers, Floyd Geer of Post Falls and Berle Riese of Fairfield, Idaho; a sister, Babe Wehr of Spokane; 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
James Waldron Manson, Wash.
Private memorial service for James F. Waldron, 86, will be held.
Mr. Waldron, a former Spokane resident, died Monday.
He was born in Alberta.
He came to Spokane from Longview, Wash., more than 30 years ago.
He was in the real estate business in Spokane for more than 20 years and moved to Manson about 10 years ago.
Mr. Waldron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Waldron; four daughters, Helen Johnson of Medical Lake, Marilyn Jones of Redondo Beach, Calif., Bobbi Kludt of Manson and Lorinda Richer of Cheney; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Donald Tucker Newport, Wash.
Memorial service for Donald O. Tucker, 92, is set for 11 a.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mr. Tucker, who was born in Pender, Neb., died Wednesday.
He was a longtime resident of Spokane and Newport, Wash., and worked as a carpenter in the home building industry in Spokane.
He was a Mason and a member of Adelphi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Scottish Rite Bodies and El Katif Shrine.
His wife, Edith, died in 1983.
He is survived by two sons, Robert and John Tucker, both of Newport; a daughter, Patricia Oertel of Vestavia Hills, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Lloyd Rodenbaugh Spokane
Graveside service for Lloyd E. Rodenbaugh, 74, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pines Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rodenbaugh, who was born in Carr, Colo., died Wednesday.
He served in the Army during World War II in Germany and was a prisoner of war in Stalag 9-B.
Mr. Rodenbaugh was a self-employed painter and a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of Wars, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45.
He had lived in Spokane for 70 years.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Dorothy; two sons, Wayne and John Rodenbaugh, both of Spokane; a stepson, Rickey Owen of Edwall, Wash.; two daughters, Judie Barbeau of Eugene, Ore., and Barbara Rodenbaugh of Spokane; four stepdaughters, Shirley Holman of Kellogg, and Janet DeGarmo, Karen Mathison and Diane Harlow, all of Spokane; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Alva Bare Sacramento, Calif.
Visitation for Alva Sophia Bare, 92, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield. Service will follow at 1 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church in Fairfield. Burial will at the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Bare, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.
She graduated from North Central High School and Cheney Normal School.
Mrs. Bare was a teacher in Peach, Mount Hope and Diamond Grove, Wash., and in 1930 she married William Bare.
In 1972 Mr. Bare died, and that same year, Mrs. Bare moved to Spokane. She moved to California about two years ago to be near a son.
She is survived by two sons, Alan Bare of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Gerald Bare of Los Angeles; a daughter, Dorean Bare of Adrian, Mich.; a brother, Ralph Peterson of Sagle, Idaho; a sister, Betty McPherson of Deer Park; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Harold Earle Priest Lake, Idaho
No service will be held for Harold Leonard Earle, 64, at his request. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Earle, who was born in Hillsboro, W.Va., died Sunday.
He was a longtime San Diego resident and moved to Priest Lake 14 years ago.
Mr. Earle was a Korean War Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Kathleen Earle; four sons, George Earle of Sandpoint, Harold Earle Jr. of Spokane, and John and Matt Earle, both of Priest Lake, Idaho; a daughter, Cindy Martensen of Spokane; two brothers, John Earle of Carlsbad, Calif., and Edwin Earle Jr. of China Lake, Calif.; a sister, Mildred Greenwald of San Diego; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Fred Rogers Chewelah, Wash.
Service for Fred Wisley Rogers, 70, is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Rogers, who died Wednesday, was born in Keller, Wash.
He served in the Navy during World War II and worked at the sawmill in Arden, Wash., for more than 30 years.
His wife, Aloha, died in 1995.
Mr. Rogers is survived by a son, Randy Rogers of Bothell, Wash.; a daughter, Bambi Bishop of Chewelah; his mother, Mabel Flock of Spokane; and four grandsons.
