NEW FACES:

Johnson Matthey Electronics has hired the following people: Philippe Valle was appointed multi-media/training manager for the Sputtering Targets Group. Valle will design JME’s electronic multi-media presentations, including its Web page and will provide internal training to sales and customer service personnel.

Judy Carver joined JME’s Sputtering Targets Group as marketing communications/promotions coordinator. She will manage external communications, oversee preparation of sales promotion materials, manage JME’s trade show participation and maintain the company’s Web page.

New additions to the staff of the Waterford on South Hill include:

Mark Blazer has been named administrator. He has 10 years of experience in the health care management field and was previously area senior administrator with Marquis Quality Healthcare in Portland.

Sue Ferguson was hired as director of nursing services. She previously worked as director of nursing for a mental health resource center, and as a nurse surveyor for the state of Florida.

Deneice Hastings joined Waterford as a retirement counselor. For the past five years, she was on the adjunct faculty at Gonzaga University as a supervisor for student teachers.

Maisie Bauer joined Waterford as a registered nurse in the wellness center. Bauer is a graduate of the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education and was previously an accountant for a Spokane firm.

Stephanie Stones was hired as administrative assistant to General Manager Edward Murphy. She has worked previously as an administrative assistant, cost accountant and office manager.

MOVING UP:

Jody Stewart, a registered associate and operations manager of D.A. Davidson & Co.’s Spokane office, was promoted to associate vice president. Stewart joined DAD in 1992 after working as operations manager for Bateman Eichler, Hill Richards in Bellevue.

Greg Gorton has been appointed technical services superintendent for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Co.’s Mead primary aluminum facility. Gorton will manage Mead’s engineering, laboratory, environmental and maintenance areas. He most recently served as the engineering department manager.

Rob Corcoran was appointed engineering department manager at Kaiser’s Mead plant. Corcoran most recently served as senior staff engineer at Kaiser’s Division Technology Center at the Mead facility. His new responsibilities include overseeing capital projects and providing technical support for Mead’s production and maintenance departments.

U.S. Bank of Idaho has named Richard Nixon manager of its Fourth Street branch in Coeur d’Alene. Nixon will oversee a sales and service staff of 20. He had been assistant manager at the Fourth Street branch since 1995.

Valerie Busch has been promoted to certified dry cleaning manager for Westco Martinizing. Busch will manage Westco’s dry cleaning store in the Boulevard Shopping Center in Lincoln Heights.

STARTING UP:

Brothers Eric and Wayne Warner have opened Northwest Radiator at 620 N. Freya.

Stephen Anderson has started Business Services Inc., a payroll processing company, at 1723 E. Dalton.

The Spokane Credit Association has installed Jim Dodson, sales manager for the Spokane office of Allied Credit, as president. KUDOS:

Northwest Farmer-Stockman Inc. of Spokane has been honored by Mutual Protective/Medico Life Insurance Cos. of Omaha. The Spokane insurance company placed third nationally in 1996 for total premiums collected and first in long term care premiums written for its Omaha-based underwriter. Michael R. Craigen is general manager of Northwest Farmer-Stockman, which is a subsidiary of Cowles Publishing Co.

The North Idaho Imaging Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound following a survey by the American College of Radiology. NIIC is a full-service diagnostic radiology facility, jointly owned by Kootenai Medical Center and Radiology Associates of North Idaho.

Charlie Parrish, owner/broker of Evergreen Realty in Sandpoint, was named “Top Producer for 1996” by the Bonner County Association of Realtors. The award goes to the Realtor who has sold the most dollar volume of real estate during the year. Parrish specializes in Schweitzer properties.

Thomas Koelewyn, managing partner of New York Life Insurance Co.’s Spokane office, is a qualifier for the prestigious National Management Award sponsored by the General Agents and Managers Association. Koelewyn has been managing partner for the Spokane general office since 1990.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Beginning this fall, the Gonzaga University School of Business Administration will offer early morning courses in the master of business administration and master of accountancy programs.
