Lakeland Sweeps Iml Twinbill From Priest River

Ryan Banks struck out 13 in the opener and Lakeland (15-2, 11-0) rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the second game Saturday for an 8-1, 8-4 Intermountain League baseball sweep at Priest River.

Banks lowered his earned-run average to 0.30 with a two-hitter. Zach Wood’s fourth-inning single broke up Banks’ shutout. Lakeland’s Shane Baldwin went 3 for 3 with two runs batted in.

Woods’ grand slam in the fourth gave the Spartans (0-11) a 4-1 lead in the second game. Dan Dockter’s two-run single in the fifth put Lakeland ahead, and Bryan Phelps followed with a suicide squeeze.

Angie Tweedy hit a pair of three-run homers in the third as the Hawks (14-3, 10-2) beat the visiting Spartans to finish first in the Intermountain League.

Tweedy finished with seven RBIs. Anne Carhart added two RBIs for Lakeland, which tied Moscow for first but becomes No. 1 because of a 2-1 record against the Bears.
