United Jet Bumps Tow Truck, Hurting Driver

Associated Press

A United Airlines jetliner hit a tow truck Saturday morning as the plane backed away from a gate at San Francisco International Airport, injuring the driver.

None of the 51 people aboard the Boeing 737 was injured.

The driver suffered facial lacerations and was taken to the hospital, a United spokesman said.

United Flight 2103 was getting ready to take off for Reno, Nev., at about 8:45 a.m. when it struck the plane tow truck.

Damage to the rear portion of the fuselage prevented the plane from taking off. Passengers were put on another flight an hour later.
