Crop Duster Pilot Dies In Plane Crash

A pilot dusting crops was killed Monday night when his plane crashed just outside Rosalia, Wash., authorities said.

Garland Bradford of Walla Walla crashed after clipping a hill with his landing gear, the Whitman County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The biplane went down shortly after 5 p.m. about 31/2 miles southwest of Rosalia, near state Highway 271.

Bradford, age unavailable, died in a fire following the crash, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Don Anderson.

A witness approached the wreckage in hopes of rescuing the pilot, but the fire made that impossible, Anderson said.

An Oregon-based company hired Garland for the crop-dusting work. The plane was carrying 220 gallons of non-toxic agricultural chemicals, Anderson said. , DataTimes
