Schauwecker Named To Sandpoint Council

The City Council appointed Gloria Schauwecker as its newest member Wednesday, filling a vacancy left by Councilman Gil Morris.

Morris resigned April 30. He moved outside the city limits and was no longer eligible to sit on the council.

Mayor David Sawyer nominated Schauwecker, a longtime resident, to finish Morris’ term, which expires next January. Schauwecker was confirmed with a unanimous vote.

She formerly served as a deputy clerk for the city for six years. She is also a member of the city planning commission.

“Gloria’s longevity in the community, and her familiarity with the city, its ordinances, policies and procedures will give her a head start as we continue to address many important issues,” Sawyer said.
