Spear’s Will Expand Warehouse

Spear’s Furniture plans to expand warehouse space attached to its showroom at 1224 N. Argonne.

Owner William Snow has applied for a rezone of approximately three acres on which the warehouse would be built.

The land currently is zoned for residential and commercial use. Spokane County senior planner Francine Shaw said when companies expand, the county often encourages the companies to update the land’s zoning.

Snow is requesting the land be zoned solely for commercial use. Planners will recommend approval.

The expansion will add 17,000 square feet of warehouse space to the existing 36,000 square feet building - which includes two small stores and a 3,000-square foot warehouse.

Shaw said there has been no opposition to date to the proposed expansion.

A public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday at the county Public Works Building, 1026 W. Broadway.

Edgecliff subdivision proposed

A proposed subdivision would add 15 single-family homes to the Edgecliff area.

The Ron-Lynn Addition would be west of Fancher and both east and west of 14th Avenue and will include lots for 15 single-family homes.

The project’s developer is Pinnacle Realty.

The land currently is zoned residential.

The project includes the extension of 14th Avenue, connecting it directly with Fancher, said senior planner Francine Shaw.

Nearby residents have written to the Spokane County Division of Building and Planning about their concerns the project will increase traffic through their neighborhood, said Shaw.

“It’s a relatively low-scale development,” she said. The project is in accordance with the comprehensive plan and the zoning code.

There will be a public hearing for the project’s preliminary plat at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Public Works Building.
