Eastern Washington Scrimmage Matches Eagles’ Best Against Best

In an effort to make today’s annual Red-White Game at Woodward Stadium more competitive than last year, Eastern Washington football coach Mike Kramer will pit his No. 1 offensive unit against his first-string defenders.

“It should be exciting,” Kramer said of the 2 p.m. controlled scrimmage that will bring the curtain down on spring practice. “It’s good on good, and you can’t get any better than that.’

The game is part of the festivities planned in conjunction with the 16th Annual Orland Killin Weekend, which also includes EWU’s volleyball team taking on a squad of alumni at 3 p.m., and the 4 p.m. Killin Dinner-Dance.

After last year’s 48-7 romp by the Eagles’ No. 1 offensive and defensive units against the reserves, Kramer has decided to match a White team comprised of the No. 1 offense and No. 2 defense against a Red team featuring the No. 1 defense and No. 2 offense.

The game caps four weeks of spring drills.

The football game and volleyball match are open to the public free of charge. The dinner-dance costs $40, with a limited number of tickets available at the door. For information, call 359-2463 or 1-800-648-7697.
