G-Prep Edges Shadle Park

Gonzaga Prep, receiving a lift from an all-leaguer, moved closer to the District 8-AAA baseball tournament Saturday.

Returning all-Greater Spokane League player Mike Kocharhook singled in the tying run in the fifth inning, then scored on a passed ball to lead G-Prep over visiting Shadle Park 5-4.

G-Prep (7-8) tied University for fifth place. The top six advance to district, and Shadle (8-7), Central Valley (9-6), Ferris (10-5) and Mead (12-3) have clinched berths.

The league season ends Tuesday with Mead at Ferris, G-Prep vs. Lewis and Clark (5-10) at Hart Field, CV at Rogers (6-9) and U-Hi at Shadle. G-Prep’s Saturday win eliminated LC, but Rogers can still tie for fifth or sixth.
