Garret Anderson highlighted a 13-run seventh inning with a single that drove in the tying and go-ahead runs and Jim Edmonds hit a two-run homer during the rally as the Anaheim Angels beat the Chicago White Sox 16-8 Monday night at Anaheim, Calif.

Jim Leyritz had four RBIs and three hits. Anderson and Darrin Erstad each had three hits and three RBIs for the Angels, who rallied after falling behind 5-0 in the first inning.

Orioles 5, Athletics 1 Oakland, Calif.

Jimmy Key allowed six hits in 7-2/3 innings to become the season’s first seven-game winner in the majors. Key is 7-0 with a 1.82 ERA.

Rangers 4, Indians 2 Arlington, Texas

Will Clark had two of Texas’ four homers and John Burkett rebounded from a shaky start as the Rangers won their fourth consecutive game.

Twins 12, Blue Jays 2 Minneapolis

Greg Myers had four hits and scored four runs as Minnesota avoided the longest home losing streak in franchise history.

Braves 10, Pirates 2 Pittsburgh

Chipper Jones homered and Greg Maddux had a two-run double as Atlanta pounded Pittsburgh for the third day in a row.

Rockies 9, Phillies 2 Philadelphia

Dante Bichette hit a two-run homer and a two-run double as Colorado stopped its season-high five-game losing streak.

Izzie the Insensitive

New York Mets pitcher Jason Isringhausen reportedly called the team’s public relations director “Jew boy” at the conclusion of a conference call with reporters.

The sidelined pitcher, who is out with a broken wrist and is suffering from tuberculosis, said he made the comment to Jay Horwitz in jest. Horwitz supported the claim.

Isringhausen’s comment came after believed he no longer was on the phone line with reporters.

Clearing the bases

Mets catcher Todd Hundley is the N.L. player of the week after hitting .444 with three home runs and 11 runs batted in… . Roger Clemens of Toronto is the A.L. player of the week. He won two games. … Baseball’s executive council will meet today to consider whether to boot George Steinbrenner from that ruling body.
