Defending baseball champion Louisiana State is among eight schools chosen by the NCAA to be a regional host for this season’s Division I tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to start May 22, with regional action continuing through that weekend. The 48-team field will be divided into six-team regions competing in a double-elimination format.
Other host schools are Miami, Alabama, Texas Tech, Florida State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Stanford.
All eight regional host schools earn an automatic berth to the tournament.
The remaining teams will gain a berth in the tournament by winning conference tournament titles or be granted at-large bids. First-round pairings will be disclosed May 19.
The College World Series will begin on May 30 at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb.
