Panorama Dominates Regional Field

Curlew and Republic saw to it Thursday that the Panorama League will be well-represented at Class B regional baseball tournaments.

Curlew won twice and Republic once to advance to the final four of the District 7-B tournament. Both will join Panorama mate Northwest Christian and the Bi-County League’s lone holdover, Davenport, during seeding games Monday at Seafirst Stadium. All four have qualified for region tourneys.

At Almira/Coulee-Hartline’s home field, Sean Tedrow had a two-run double during an eight-run fifth inning as the Cougars eliminated the Tigers (10-7).

Jason Miller and Elliott Edwards had consecutive doubles in the third, and Jeremy Groth added an RBI single as the Cougars (21-3) beat the Warriors (14-4).

Curlew plays at 9 a.m. Monday against Panorama champion Northwest Christian (21-1).

At Republic, Bobby Russel hit a two-run homer in the sixth and the Broncos scored the winner on a seventh-inning error to eliminate the Dragons (14-9).

District 8-AAA tennis

Every seeded player advanced after the first two rounds of the District 8-AAA tennis tournament.

All four seeds in girls singles, boys doubles and girls doubles, and all five seeds in boys singles moved on.

The top seeds are Ryan Moran, Mead, boys singles; Darcy Ruemping, Ferris, girls singles; Brett Kaiser and Tory Gambill, Mead, boys doubles; and Krista Kubiak and Alli Powers, Gonzaga Prep, girls doubles.

Today’s third- and fourth-round matches are at Central Valley (boys) and Ferris (girls). The tourney concludes Monday at CV.

District 7-AA golf

West Valley’s Melanie Larocque shot a 9-over-par 82 to lead after the opening round of the District 7-AA girls golf tournament at Colville Elks Golf Course.

The top 20 advanced to the second and final round Tuesday at Liberty Lake Golf Course. Pullman advanced five golfers; Clarkston and Colville four apiece.
