Fire Potential

Here are the fire severity potentials for the geographic regions of the West through June 8 as forecast by the National Interagency Fire Center.

Alaska: Low to high. Temperatures have been above normal with below-normal precipitation. Long-range forecast predicts normal temperatures and above-normal precipitation.

Washington, Oregon: Low. Temperatures and precipitation have been normal.

California: Low north, moderate to very high south. Temperatures have been near to above normal. Precipitation in the south is below normal and above normal in the north.

Montana, North Idaho, North Dakota:- Low. Temperatures have been below normal. Precipitation has been above normal except in eastern Montana, which is below normal.

Nevada, Utah, Southern Idaho:- Low to moderate. Temperatures have been normal to above normal with normal precipitation.

Arizona, New Mexico, Western Texas: Moderate to high. Temperatures and precipitation have been normal.

Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota, Kansas, Northern Oklahoma: Low to moderate. Temperatures have been normal with above-normal precipitation.
