Mission Park Pool Repaired - Barely

The pool at Valley Mission Park is undergoing minimal repairs, allowing the deteriorating structure to operate safely this year.

The decision by Spokane County commissioners to make the repairs means that the pool will be ready to go by June 19, opening day for all the county’s pools.

The repair work will cost between $10,000 and $16,000, estimated Wyn Birkenthal, county parks and recreation director.

County officials this spring have discussed several plans for the pool on East Mission Avenue. Options have included building a new pool elsewhere in the Valley, or closing the pool and putting $1.3 million into the planned YMCA aquatic center at Mirabeau Point. , DataTimes
