Three Churches Plan Vacation Bible School For June

Nina Culver Correspondent

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection are co-hosting a vacation Bible school in June.

The three Veradale churches, located in close proximity to one another, occasionally host tri-parish events. The Bible school, which will run from 9 a.m. to noon June 23-27, will have the theme “Wild Frontier Bible Theme Park.”

The Bible school will be open to all children 3 years old through those entering the sixth grade in the fall. Different age groups will meet in different churches. The Bible school will include story time, crafts, snacks, games, and other activities.

Children must be registered for the Bible school by June 8. The cost is $5 per child with a maximum of $15 per family. For registration information, call St. Mary’s Church at 928-3210.

The churches are also still in need of volunteers to help with the more than 200 children expected to attend the Bible school. Would-be volunteers can call Good Shepherd at 926-8611, the Church of the Resurrection at 926-6450, or St. Mary’s.

‘Paint till you faint’

The Pasadena Park Church of the Nazarene, 8822 E. Upriver Drive, will host a special “paint till you faint” night Friday at 6:30 p.m. with local artist Carol Sims. All women are invited to attend the free lesson.

Those interested in attending the class need to visit the church office to pick which sample they wish to paint. The samples range in price from $5 to $18. The deadline for ordering samples is Wednesday. For more information, call the church at 926-5858.

Pasadena Park will also host a sandwich and pie night Sunday after the 6 p.m. worship service. All those interested in attending are asked to bring some pie and sandwiches to share.

Habitat work day canceled

The May 24 Habitat for Humanity work day for members of St. John Vianney Catholic Church has been canceled because of the Memorial Day holiday. Church members typically help build houses for Habitat for Humanity one day a month. The next work day will be June 28.
