Boyfriend Arrested In Shooting Of Three

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 21-year-old Oroville man has been arrested for investigation of murder after his girlfriend’s mother was shot to death. Her two daughters were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

Jose Antonio Hernand-Sanchez surrendered to police Saturday night after a standoff of more than an hour, Chief Criminal Deputy Brad Wilson said. He was taken to Okanogan County Jail on investigation of murder and assault.

The mother, Cirila Saldana-Rodriguez, 34, died Saturday night after being shot several times in the stomach, Sheriff Jim Weed said.

Weed said the dispute began at the home of Saldana and her two daughters about seven miles south of Oroville. The three left their home but the man followed them to a neighbor’s trailer home, where Saldana was shot several times in the stomach.

The man held Jannette Covarrubio, 17, hostage inside the trailer for more than an hour, Weed said, while deputies negotiated with him from across the yard. xxxx
