Mindpower Generation Scholarships Presented

Nathan Hein, a student at Central Valley High School, and Julie Brown, of Cheney High School, each received a $1,500 scholarship through Washington Water Power’s Mindpower Generation Scholarship Program.

WWP’s program is to help Inland Northwest students who don’t qualify for academic scholarships or financial aid to continue their education at a regional higher-education institution.

Allyson Clouse, a student at Northwest Christian High School, has been named an All-American Scholar and will appear in the nationally published All-American Scholar Yearbook.

In addition, she was also named to the Who’s Who in High School Sports.

Clouse is the daughter of Brian and Krista Clouse, Spokane.

Inland Northwest students who won the Columbia Basin High School Art Invitational Exhibition Awards are: Quincy High School: Dessa Dal Porto, $150; Jamie Lust, $25 gift certificate; Chris Hoff and Ande Harwood, $10 gift certificates.

Ephrata High School: Heather Hamlett, $75; Ryan Trautman, $50 gift certificate; Tracie Shaw, $25 gift certificate; Greg Watson, $20; Lorenda Thiry, $15 gift certificate; Adam Youngers, $10 gift certificate.

Moses Lake High School: Adam Dano, $25.

Soap Lake High School: Viktor Grib, $20.

Ritzville High School: James Jacobus, $15 gift certificate.

Columbia Basin Job Corps: Eric Multhausen and Victor Gates, $10 gift certificates.

Honorable Mention Awards went to: Greg Adams and Raina Spence, Ephrata High School; Adam Dano and Jason Hirst, Moses Lake High School; Raeben Kooy, Jamie Lust and Shannon Stetner, Quincy High School; Jerry Norris, Columbia Basin Job Corps; Brad Payne, Columbia Basin Alternative; and Katie Phipps, Ritzville High School.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew Norton, a 1984 graduate of Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, has received a Letter of Commendation while assigned at Naval Air Reserve, Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego. He was recognized for his superior performance of duty.

Marine Lance Cpl. David Brasefield, son of Robert and Karen Brasefield, was recently promoted to his present rank.
