Miniseries Wraps Up ‘Murder One’

Ellen Gray Philadelphia Daily News

It’s too late to save “Murder One,” but it’s not too late to see what all the fuss was about.

With May sweeps now over, there’s still one miniseries to go. And the six-hour finale of ABC’s “Murder One,” which airs Sunday, Monday and Thursday at 9 p.m., is easily the network’s best six hours of the month.

It may also be the most accessible chunk of “Murder One” ever. Even someone who’s never seen a minute of the series - in other words, most people - could be up to speed in no time with the story of Wyler & Associates’ defense of a serial killer who can’t stop bragging about having dispatched 17 people. The case introduced on Sunday night will be resolved by Thursday.

In an interview earlier this month, creator Steven Bochco said production was “in midstream” when ABC decided to run the last six hours as a miniseries rather than a weekly show.

And although he’s never made a miniseries before, “it plays very nicely in that construction,” he said.
