Noted Lawyer Sentenced For Forgery

From Staff And Wire Reports

A prominent Kitsap County lawyer was sentenced in federal court Friday to five months in prison for forging a judge’s signature on fictitious court orders and other documents.

Eric H. Lind, 40, of Gig Harbor, pleaded guilty in March to forging the signature of U.S. District Judge Robert J. Bryan of Tacoma on documents needed to support continued billing of clients.

A week earlier, he pleaded guilty in Kitsap County Superior Court in Port Orchard to four counts of first-degree theft and admitted taking unearned “bonuses” totaling $44,521.94 in 1995 from the law firm in which he was a partner.

Lind also agreed to accept disbarment by the Washington State Bar Association.

Lind was the Snohomish County deputy prosecutor who in the early 1980s won convictions against triple-murderer Charles Rodman Campbell. Campbell was hanged in May 1994.

Lind went on to become a prominent defense lawyer in Kitsap County.
