Arizona State captured its fourth team title in the last five years and Heather Bowie of Texas - who transferred after playing on two of those Sun Devils squads - won medalist honors at the NCAA Division I women’s golf tournament.
The Sun Devils started the day tied for the lead with San Jose State, but pulled away early on the back nine to lead by as many as seven shots.
They finished with 291 strokes in the final round - best of any of the 18 teams - to close at 1,178 strokes on Ohio State’s Scarlet Course.
Kellee Booth, second in the medalist race last year, led Arizona State with a 71. Keri Cornelius shot a 72, Jody Niemann a 73 and Je’neMarie Busuttil and Thuhashini Selvaratnam each had a 75.
Bowie used a closing 70 to finish at 3-under 285 and win individual honors by two strokes.
San Jose State was second for the third year in a row, with a 293 in the final round and 1,180 for the 72 holes.
