Flooded Pend Oreille River Forecast To Peak Wednesday
Water flows along the bloated Pend Oreille River are expected to peak Wednesday, the National Weather Service reported.
The flow remained above flood stage Saturday 130,000 cubic feet per second, with flood levels occurring at just 109,000. The river level is expected to fall some today, but will rise again by Wednesday.
All motorized boats and personal watercraft are banned along the river from Newport to Box Canyon Dam, the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Department announced. From Box Canyon Dam to Boundary Dam, motor boats are allowed, but the stretch still is a no-wake zone.
The ban will remain until the sheriff announces a change.
