Three People Killed When Ride Tips Over

Compiled From Wire Services

Three people were killed and seven injured when a ride tipped over at a festival in the Pacific coast resort city of Puerto Vallarta, local authorities reported Saturday.

The accident occurred late Friday when a ride known as the Rainbow lost power and tipped over, killing one adult and two children, the Notimex government news agency reported.

The ride, a tower with small cars swinging from it, apparently suffered a mechanical malfunction, witnesses said.

Those killed were two children, age 4 and 8, and an adult relative.

A 35-year-old man and six children from age 6 to 17 were injured.
