Griffey’s Hr Equals Record

Associated Press

Ken Griffey Jr. homered in the first inning against Kansas City Sunday, tying his own major-league record of 22 home runs by the end of May.

Griffey, who leads the majors with 22 homers and 59 RBIs, set the record in 1994. He’ll have seven more games this month, barring rainouts.

“I just love the game,” he said. “When you love the game, you just smile and come to the park every day. When you lose, you just smile and come back tomorrow.”
