Keep That Sta Pass Handy After You Buy Your Own Car

Stacee Kent Contract Based Education

Henry Ford should have been taken out into the street and shot!

The inventor of cars must have been evil in some way. To go through a truckload of money and troubles just to get from point A to point B. Is it worth it?

To keep things legal, I spent $275 dollars on Driver’s Ed two years ago, just to end up flunking my first driving test.

No worries. I passed the test the following week.

The car itself cost $200 dollars, excluding $50 for registration, $40 for tabs and $50 a month for insurance. Thank goodness the litter bag was free - courtesy of Safeway. So I still had a little change in my pocket.

Soon, however, my pockets were empty. I wish someone would have invented a car that runs on water.

When my car wasn’t leaking green stuff, it was leaking red stuff. Then when the red stuff stopped leaking, the blue stuff started. I never figured out what that black stuff was.

The brakes needed to be fixed and the radio blew its fuse. I hope someone is around to give me a jump when the battery dies again.

I’m beginning to wonder why I’ve been feeding this thing my hard earned money each month.

Then my car had the audacity to demand accessories. She wasn’t satisfied with a plain old radio. No! She had to have a state-of-the-art stereo system.

She insisted she would not be seen in town without fuzzy seatcovers, fancy floormats and a matching steering wheel cover. Although I have to admit, I do like the fuzzy dice hanging from her rearview mirror.

After four months, my car finally left the garage, but only after she was equipped with new bumper stickers, air conditioning and an emergency kit in the hatchback - complete with blankets, chains, flares, water bottles and canned food. Of course, a stuffed Garfield was suction-cupped to her back window.

Now that my pockets are completely empty and my nerves are frazzled, I’m thinking that I should get in my car, drive to the STA station and do what I should have done in the first place. Buy myself a bus pass.
