Man Drowns When Car Plunges Into Pond

Associated Press

A Monroe, Ore., man drowned when the car he was riding in plunged off a bridge and sank in an abandoned mill pond in Lane County.

Traviston Levi Angevine, 20, couldn’t escape from the back seat of the 1978 Toyota sedan, which landed upside down in 10 feet of water, said Oregon State Police. Driver Dennis Witten lost control of the vehicle on a small bridge and the car slid into the pond. He and his front-seat passenger escaped unharmed.
