Woman Fined For Dragging Dog From Car

Associated Press

A southern Ontario woman who tied a dog to the back of her car and dragged it along a gravel road was fined $720 Monday and banned from owning animals for two years.

Maureen Cook, 66, who was taking care of the dog for its owner, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary pain to an animal.

A former dog trainer, Cook said she tied the Irish setter to her vehicle to teach it a lesson about the dangers of chasing cars. The animal suffered a broken foot, gashes and burns.
