Second Cousin Marketing Jfk Pt Wear Clothes

Compiled From Wire Services

What’s the well-dressed sailor to wear while yachting off Hyannis or reliving war exploits in the South Pacific? Don some JFK PT Wear.

President John F. Kennedy and his love of the sea are being marketed in a line of nautical clothing by a second cousin, Kerry McCarthy, who shrugs off suggestions that she is trading on the family name.

“I think it has been commercialized for years and years and years. I think every book that comes out about Kennedy … is a commercialization,” she said Tuesday.

McCarthy, whose mother, Marylou, was a niece of Kennedy’s parents, is kicking off her line on Thursday - the 80th anniversary of Kennedy’s birth. Prices range from $19.95 for a hat to $119.95 for a jacket.

The PT part of the name refers to Kennedy’s command of a patrol-torpedo boat, PT-109, during World War II.
