Jumping The Ship Of State

Rep. Susan Molinari, highest-ranking woman in the Republican congressional leadership, the keynote speaker at the GOP’s national convention last year, announced Wednesday she was leaving Congress to co-anchor a Saturday morning news show on CBS. “I envision this as a cross between ‘60 Minutes’ and Rosie O’Donnell,” said Molinari, presented to the GOP convention as a symbol of the party’s commitment to working women and families. “I’m not like leaving to work at a shopping mall,” Molinari said in a defensive observation during a phone interview. “This is a chance to co-anchor a national news show.”
