Man Run Over By Car Still In Critical Condition

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 77-year-old Montana man injured Tuesday in a freak car accident near downtown Spokane remained in critical condition Wednesday, a hospital official said.

Harold Wittenberg of Missoula spent the day in the intensive-care unit at Deaconess Medical Center, where he was being treated for multiple rib fractures and other internal injuries.

Wittenberg was hurt when his car rolled over him while he tried to fix the emergency brake in a parking lot near the Spokane Club.

He and his wife were in Spokane to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, police said.
