Three Carroll Students Join Delta Epsilon Sigma

Three Spokane-area students attending Carroll College in Helena, were inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma, the national honorary society for Catholic colleges:

Spokane: Amy Arnold, a junior biology major; and Amy Wendelburg, a junior accounting major.

Veradale: Laura Budinsky, a senior biology major.

The team of Michael Jordon, John Pool, Kale Colyer, Lance Repp and Josh Siler, students at St. John-Endicott High School, placed third in the recent State Agriculture Mechanics Contest at Walla Walla Community College. They competed against 31 teams from across the state.

Jordon placed second in individual competition against 139 finalists. Pool placed fifth; Siler, ninth; and Repp, 21st.

McKenzie Broughton, a cellist, won the privilege of performing a solo with the Pacific Lutheran University Orchestra with her placement in PLU’s Student Soloists Competition.

Broughton is the daughter of Irv and Connie Broughton of Spokane.

Angie Johnson, a senior majoring in community services, has been elected Senator in her student government at Saint Martin’s College in Lacey, Wash.

The Mathcounts team representing Sacajewea Middle school placed sixth in the state competition in Federal Way, Wash. Teammembers were: Silas Hilliard, Michael Hess, John Wheaton and Herman Chung.

Hilliard won first place in the individual competition.

Clara Demmer was nominated Poet of the Year for 1997 by the International Society of Poets. She will be inducted as an International Poet of Merit and a member of the International Society of Poets.
