Northern Arizona University head track and field coach Ron Mann has been named men’s coach of the year in the Big Sky Conference. Mann’s Lumberjacks won the conference championship.

Looking to put some punch back into his arsenal, Oscar De La Hoya has turned to veteran trainer Emanuel Steward for his June 14 WBC welterweight title defense against David Kamau.

The Stockton Ports’ four batboys have been benched by the state because they’re too young to work late hours.

The state Department of Labor this week also ordered the California League baseball team to pay about $6,000 in back wages to current and former batboys for not paying them during pre-game hours they worked.
