Xplosive Colorado Clobbers Reign

Crystal Robinson scored 25 points to lead the visiting Colorado Xplosion to a 93-77 win over the Seattle Reign on Friday night.

Colorado (2-3) took the lead early and was ahead by 16 points at the half.

Seattle (2-6) closed within 84-74 late in the fourth quarter on free throws from Angela Aycock, who had 16 points.

Colorado ended the threat with six points from Edna Campbell, two on a layin after stealing the ball from Kate Starbird and four on free throws. The Xplosion wrapped up the game with a 9-0 run in the final minute.

Seattle’s last lead came at 6:54 in the first quarter when Shalonda Enis hit a 5-foot jumper.

At Atlanta

Yolanda Griffith, the league’s No. 1 draft pick, scored 26 points to lead Long Beach over Atlanta.

Glory player-coach Teresa Edwards led Atlanta with 25 points, but made only eight of 19 shots from the field.

Forward Katrina McClain added 18 points and nine rebounds for Atlanta.

Long Beach, the ABL’s newest franchise, was playing without center Venus Lacy, who remained in Philadelphia with a concussion after Thursday’s win there.

Beverly Williams and Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil each added 19 points for the StingRays.
