Germany Must Pay Nazi Damages

Associated Press

A Greek provincial court has ruled that Germany must pay $32 million in reparations to the families of 214 people executed toward the end of World War II.

A decision late Thursday by a three-member court in Levadia, 50 miles north of Athens, ruled in favor of a suit filed by about 100 people related to those slaughtered by Nazi troops on June 10, 1944.

Nazi troops entered the nearby town of Distomo and shot nearly half its 500 or so residents in reprisal for alleged guerrilla activities by partisans in the area.
