Budding Entrepreneurs Invited To Friday Seminar

On Friday, the region’s budding business owners are invited to the Young Entrepreneur Seminar, sponsored by U.S. Bank of Washington, Microsoft, PEMCO Financial, Gonzaga University, and the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Council. The day begins at 8 a.m. at the Spokane Convention Center.

More than 600 high school students are expected to attend to learn about business ownership and how to prepare themselves for careers. For information, call 459-4109.

The Associated Engineers meet to discuss the Spokane Convention Center Expansion at noon at the Inn at the Park, 303 W. North River Drive, Spokane.

The Commerce Department releases September personal income and September construction spending reports.

Tuesday

Election Day. Local races include mayor and city council positions in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene.

The Washington State Fruit Commission holds a board of directors meeting from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Washington Apple Commission Meeting Room, 2900 Euclid Ave., Wenatchee. Topics include domestic and foreign market promotions and a report from the Tree Fruit Research Comission.

Wednesday

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s task force on agricultural air quality meets today and Thursday in Washington, D.C.

A seminar on estate planning for those in smaller, family-owned businesses such as farming and ranching is being held in Davenport, Wash., at the Cottonwood Inn from 7 to 9 a.m.

Gonzaga law professor Gary Randall presents a seminar explaining 1997 Tax Act changes rules for small corporations. The session is at 4 p.m. at the Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute, 665 N. Riverpoint Blvd. in Spokane.

Wally Snyder, president of the American Advertising Federation speaks on advertising regulations and ethics at a luncheon starting at 11:45 a.m. at the Ridpath Hotel in Spokane. From 1:45 to 4:15 p.m. the Spokane Advertising Federation and Better Business Bureau of the Inland Northwest hold a symposium on the same subject. Call 326-8818 for information and reservations.

The Idaho Cattle Association holds its 84th annual convention at the Coeur d’Alene Resort through Saturday.

Washington Water Power Co. holds a briefing on changes made to outage procedures at 10 a.m. in the WWP’s Spokane building, 1411 E. Mission.

Friday

The Washington Wool Growers Association holds its annual convention today and tomorrow in the Best Western Hallmark in Moses Lake. Call 509-765-1323.

Epicurean Delight, featuring Spokane’s premier restaurants, wineries and microbreweries, will be held at the International Ag Trade Center from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Reservations are required. Proceeds benefit the Deaconess Center for Perinatal Medicine. Call 744-7672.
