It Wasn’t Any Easier For His Suns, Er, Sons
As the daughter of rock eccentric Frank Zappa, Moon Zappa did not exactly have a normal childhood.
“As a child, I thought that I could be kidnapped at any moment,” says Zappa, 30.
“I would practice for my kidnaping by lying down in the trunk of the car and trying to remember, ‘Two lefts, two rights, a long stretch of highway … ‘ I was rehearsing what I would say to police.”
Zappa, now an actress whose credits include “Love Always” (co-starring Spokane), first made her mark supplying the airhead voiceover on her father’s 1982 hit “Valley Girl.”
Today, she says, “There aren’t Valley Girls. There are Brentwood Girls. Those women are more sophisticated. They have attitude. Now it’s stupidity with an edge. And better clothes.”
Loose talk
Actress Jennifer Lopez, on her romantic wiles: “My cousin gave me great advice when I was younger. He told me to be sure I always wore pretty shoes, because the man I was dancing with would be looking down, and if he saw beautiful feet and shoes, he’d probably fall in love with me.”
Others are in a lack of class by themselves
Kathy Kinney turns 44 today.
Well, like they say, if the shoe fits, buy it
Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion tells InStyle magazine that she owns more than 1,000 pairs of shoes, has a closet bigger than most bedrooms and doesn’t always try on outfits before buying them. At a size 2, she says, “I know if something fits or not.”
Now she’s laughing all the way to the banks
Thin wasn’t good where Tyra Banks grew up. “I’m a black woman, and being super-skinny in my community was not something people obsessed about,” the Victoria’s Secret model says in Shape magazine. “I was a geeky adolescent … braces, tall and really skinny. Kids would tease me. I would go home crying all the time.”
We suppose Sandra would be more Mom’s speed
Pamela Anderson Lee is the woman most men would want for a one-night stand, according to a Men’s Health magazine survey, followed by Sharon Stone, Jenny McCarthy, Cindy Crawford and Madonna. But the take-home-to-Mom list looks a little different: Sandra Bullock, Meg Ryan, Julia Roberts, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jennifer Aniston.
And the bigger the shot, the better the shot
Real estate magnate Donald Trump told “Dateline NBC” that he regrets never having asked out Princess Diana when she was alive. “Do you think you would have seriously had a shot?” asked interviewer Stone Phillips. Replied Trump: “I think so, yeah. I always have a shot.”
He should be good for a few sound bites
Kinky sportscaster Marv Albert is ready to start making the media rounds this month, with appearances scheduled on “Larry King Live” and the “Late Show with David Letterman,” as well as a Barbara Walters interview on “20/20.”
