Cold Truth: Men Hog The Ice Cream

Rick Bonino Food Editor

If you suscribe to the common wisdom, women are the ones who curl up with a carton of ice cream to nourish their inner child.

But along comes a survey from the Dreyers ice cream people to set things straight. Almost one in four of the men polled consider a “typical” serving of ice cream to be four or more scoops, compared to two scoops for most women. Two out of three guys finish off the carton when they get close to the bottom, instead of saving some for anyone else.

And 13 percent of the men surveyed admitted loving the frozen stuff so much that they lick the bowl when they’re done - an indulgence shared by only 8 percent of women.

Women, on the other hand, are more goal-oriented. Almost half report they regularly dig out the cookie chunks, nuts and other goodies buried in their ice cream.
