Mild Earthquake Rumbles Near Hanford

From Staff And Wire Reports

An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 was detected Wednesday near the western border of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, the University of Washington reported.

The quake occurred at 5:24 p.m. and was centered about 22 miles north of Prosser, the UW’s Seismology Lab reported. The remote location is near the Columbia River along the edge of the 560-square-mile nuclear reservation.

There were no reports of anyone feeling the quake, which was 14 miles deep, the lab said.
