Police Catch Man After Shots Fired

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police have arrested a Spokane man believed to have fired gunshots in a lower South Hill neighborhood early Wednesday.

Robert L. Barlow, 23, of 914 E. Everett, was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of reckless endangerment and attempting to elude police.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of West Eighth Avenue when neighbors heard gunshots just after midnight Wednesday, police said.

Officers saw a car matching a caller’s description at Eighth and Oak. One man was in the car, and another was standing at the driver’s side door with one hand in his waistband, police said.

When officers asked the man to show his hands, he jumped into the car and sped off with police in pursuit. He drove through stop signs, on-coming traffic and lawns, and forced vehicles off the road along Maple, Cedar and Adams all the way to 19th, police said.

The man stopped the car near 17th and Jefferson, and got out and ran along with a passenger. Police caught the driver. The unidentified passenger remained at large late Wednesday.

Officers found a handgun and a box of shells in the car. They also found six spent bullet shells at the corner of Eighth and Oak that matched the ammunition found in the car, police said. No one was injured in the chase or shootings.

At least three other cars were seen in the area where the shots were fired. An investigation continues. , DataTimes
