Tez Breaks Ankle, Is Out For Season

Associated Press

Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy broke his left ankle in the first quarter of Sunday’s game at San Diego and will be lost for the rest of the year.

Kennedy, who has played in six straight Pro Bowls, was injured during San Diego’s second offensive series. He was helped off the field and taken in for X-rays.

The Seahawks won 37-31.

“The one bad thing that came out of this is we’ve lost Cortez for the year,” coach Dennis Erickson said.

A number of other players were injured.

Chargers linebacker Lew Bush pulled his left hamstring on San Diego’s first punt of the game, and Chargers cornerback Dwayne Harper pulled his right hamstring in the third quarter.

Seahawks center Kevin Mawae hyper-extended a knee.
