Guess He’s Still Up For The Odd Coupling Or Two

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

Tony Randall, who raised eyebrows in April by becoming a father for the first time at age 77, has done it again.

Randall’s wife, Heather - “a bit long in the tooth” at age 27, he says - is expecting in June.

“This was a planned baby,” Randall, starring in a stage production of “The Sunshine Boys” in Florida with former “Odd Couple” co-star Jack Klugman, told the New York Times. “I don’t think that an only child is the best idea. We have a little girl, and now I want a boy.”

Loose talk

Talk host Oprah Winfrey to guest Richard Gere, on his lifestyle (as reported in People magazine): “I also read … that you live like a monk, except for the celibacy part.”

He had no children with his first wife of 54 years, Florence, who died in 1992.

Asked about the prospect of being in his 90s when his children are in their teens, Randall said: “That’s OK. If it’s a boy, I will have him in the yard throwing curveballs, and if it’s a girl, I will take her to ‘thes dansants.”’ (That’s “tea dances,” in English.)

We remember back when she was making Teddy

Whoopi Goldberg turns 42 today.

To us, Heather Randall is the real Mrs. Superman

Teri Hatcher - better known as Lois Lane, aka Mrs. Superman, in ABC’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”- gave birth to her first child on Monday. Hatcher and actor husband Jon Tenney (“Brooklyn South”) named the girl Emerson Rose.

And to Lyle, she’s no lady, she’s his ex-wife

Julia Roberts plans a secret wedding at Thanksgiving to her personal trainer of two years, Pat Manocchia, according to the Star. The tabloid reports that Roberts has the blessing of her former husband, Lyle Lovett.

That Marv really is a heel - a spiked heel

Maybe we shouldn’t be feeling so sorry for disgraced sportscaster Marv Albert’s fiancee, Heather Faulkiner. According to Albert’s ex-wife, Benita Oberlander, the affair began while they were still married. “I felt as though I had been stabbed in the heart,” Oberlander told television’s “American Journal.”

Better get ready to download the lowdown

In honor of the 10th anniversary of her Passion fragrance line, Elizabeth Taylor will participate in a cyberchat with fans on America Online next Thursday. Taylor said she will answer questions on any topic, presumably including her eight failed marriages and recent medical problems.

Sounds like more of his stupid Pentium tricks

By the way, America Online users will be greeted by computerized celebrity voices when they sign on over the next 10 weeks, including Dennis Rodman, Rosie O’Donnell and David Letterman, whose lines include “Welcome, please hang on to your wigs and keys,” and “Congratulations, Linda, you’ve got mail.”
